WMS Functional Consultant (Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
We’re looking for an experienced WMS Functional Consultant to support a highly customized, multi-site warehouse environment operating across multiple lines of business.

This is not a standard WMS environment. The organization has evolved its Microsoft Dynamics NAV–based WMS over more than a decade, resulting in a complex, non–out-of-the-box system with significant customizations. The goal of this role is to bring deep warehouse domain expertise to help guide decisions, support enhancements, and bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution.

You’ll act as the WMS subject matter expert, partnering with internal developers who can read code but lack deep warehouse operations knowledge. This role requires someone who can interpret system behavior, analyze NAV code, and provide practical, experience-based recommendations on how to optimize processes and system usage.

What Makes This Role Unique
Highly customized NAV WMS environment (not out-of-the-box)
Multiple lines of business operating within shared warehouse locations
Complex workflows involving billing validation, order matching, cancellations, and short shipping
Mix of WMS-enabled and non-WMS-enabled operations across different business units
Emphasis on accuracy, traceability, and process control (similar to healthcare/pharma environments)
Key Responsibilities
Act as the functional lead for WMS, advising on best practices and system improvements
Analyze and interpret NAV code and system logic to understand current behaviors and constraints
Support and optimize core warehouse processes, including:
Receiving & put-away
Picking & inventory movements
Shipping workflows
Provide guidance on scaling WMS capabilities across multiple locations and business lines
Partner with business stakeholders to understand complex operational requirements (e.g., billing codes, order validation, fulfillment constraints)
Work closely with internal developers to translate functional needs into technical solutions
Evaluate current configurations and recommend practical, experience-driven improvements
Must-Have Qualifications
5+ years of WMS experience in complex, high-volume, multi-site warehouse environments
Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (WMS module)
Ability to read and interpret NAV code (trace logic, understand system behavior; no development required)
Deep, end-to-end understanding of warehouse operations:
Receiving & put-away
Picking & inventory management
Shipping & fulfillment
Proven experience working in non-standard / highly customized environments
Strong communication skills with the ability to advise both technical teams and business stakeholders
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Exposure to warehouse barcode scanning systems (e.g., Zebra devices, Tasklet or similar tools)
Working knowledge of SQL / database querying for analysis
Familiarity with .NET / Visual Studio environments
Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated environments
Background in manufacturing or large-scale distribution operations
What Success Looks Like
Quickly understands a highly customized WMS environment and identifies gaps/opportunities
Provides clear, actionable recommendations grounded in prior experience
Helps the business confidently answer: “Can the system support this?”
Bridges the gap between warehouse operations and technical teams
Supports more efficient, scalable processes across multiple locations and business units
Engagement Details
Contract Length: Initial 3 months (strong likelihood of extension)
Hours: ~35 hours/week (flexible within standard business hours)
Start: ASAP
Onsite Requirement
Hybrid, based in Markham
Typically ~3 days/week onsite (flexible depending on business needs; some weeks may be lighter or heavier)
Onsite presence is important to fully understand warehouse operations firsthand
Interview Process
Round 1: 30-minute virtual interview (Hiring Manager / Technical Lead)
Round 2: Virtual or in-person interview with leadership
Additional Notes for Candidates
This role is best suited for someone who has “seen it before”—someone who has worked in messy, highly customized WMS environments and can bring structure and clarity
While NAV experience is strongly preferred, exceptional WMS experts may be considered if they can collaborate closely with internal NAV developers
This is a functional leadership role, not a developer position

Compensation: $65.00 – $75.00/hr
