Senior Software Developer – F&E Planning Database Replacement

HSS is replacing the aging F&EP system (MS Access connected to multiple MS SQL databases) which supports specification, procurement, delivery and installation of clinical and non-clinical furnishings and equipment across Alberta’s health facilities. The Senior Software Developer will lead and execute the design, development and build of the new system delivered in multiple releases. Key responsibilities include: Solution Design & Architecture – translate business needs into design specifications, apply user-centred design, identify design flaws and mitigate technical risks. Development & Delivery – design, develop and build using .NET/ASP.NET Core and React SPA front end, develop business logic separated from infrastructure, deploy through automated CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, migrate and consolidate data from four existing MS SQL Server 2019 databases. Agile Leadership & Mentoring – lead design and development in Scrum-based environment, maintain product backlog and sprint plan in ServiceNow, mentor internal HSS development team, transition team from Waterfall to Agile/Scrum. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer – document solution and produce architecture artifacts, transfer knowledge to HSS for system handover. Key Deliverables: Hi-level product roadmap and Product Development Scrum Framework, Design specifications per release and Data Model/ERD, Initial and updated product backlog with EPICs/Features, Working software increment per release with sprint demos, Test report and final handover checklist.
